Mr. Bickhardt has successfully run a private voice studio in which his students have gone on to be cast as principal roles in IU Opera Theater productions, IU Theatre productions, and accepted into the IU Musical Theatre major degree program. Utilizing a combination of vocal pedagogy from some of the best teachers and coaches in the United States, Mr. Bickhardt is comfortable working with singers of a multitude of styles including: classical, pop, rock, musical theatre, and jazz.
He prepares an individualized approach for each student, while still relating the concepts of “bel canto” technique to whichever style his students aim to improve upon. While completing his Masters in Vocal Performance, he was an Associate Instructor of Voice for the Jacobs School of Music. He has also researched and written upon the applications of musical theatre repertoire into the training of undergraduate tenor voices.
“Brad was such an inspiring teacher and helped me perfect many of the nuances of my voice. I am so grateful to have worked closely with him.”
“Before coming to Brad, I had no vocal training. Within the first few lessons, I noticed a huge improvement in the way I sang. Brad transformed my approach to singing; I left every lesson invigorated and ready to continue learning. He is a wonderful, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable teacher.”
